MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Thursday led the distribution of 1,119 Certificates of Condonation and Release of Mortgage (COCROMs) to 1,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).

These represented a total of P274.970 million of ARB debt for 1,728.349 hectares of land from the municipalities of San Miguel, Baliwag, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, Angat, Bustos, Norzagaray, Balatas, Bocaue, Pandi, San Jose del Monte and Sta Maria, Bulacan.

Marcos earlier signed into law the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (NAEA) which aimed to erase “all unpaid principal amortizations, interests and surcharges on agricultural lands awarded under the government's agrarian reform program.”

The government hopes that by erasing their ARB debt, beneficiaries will be given financial relief and will have additional resources to “increase the productivity of their farms and engage in alternative livelihood activities to further improve the quality of their lives.”

A total of 300,000 COCROMs are targeted for distribution under the NAEA in 2024, Malacañang said.

The President also distributed during the program 343 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to 287 ARBs from Nasugbu, Batangas covering a total of 232.76 hectares.
