MANILA — A total of 260 travelers as well as truck drivers and cargo helpers were stranded at various ports in Southern Tagalog and Bicol regions as the strong southwest monsoon lashed the country on Wednesday, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

The PCG added that 11 vessels, 5 motorbancas, and 19 rolling cargoes were also stranded during the period, while 7 vessels and 1 motorbanca were taking shelter.

The southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoon Carina is bringing strong to gale-force gusts over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, the eastern portion of Isabela, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, BARMM, and Davao Region, according to weather bureau PAGASA.
