“Nakakapagtaka dahil lang sa AOM (audit observation memorandum) eh nagkaroon kami ng preventive suspension... Lahat po ng munisipyo merong AOM... Baka gamitin ng mga kalaban sa politika ng mga local chief executive kung base lang sa AOM,” Anarna said.

The preventive suspension order was a result of the 65-point charge filed against him by Silang Vice Mayor Edward Carranza.

“Base dun sa news clip na napanood ko, nakita ko sobrang nipis lang nung ipinile (file) na print sa akin for 65 (counts). So, siguro makikita naman dun na halos walang laman yun. Purely for harassment lang talaga,” Anarna said.

Anarna said he would answer Carranza’s allegation of wrongdoing in the P1.5-billion worth of municipal transactions with concrete counter-evidence.

"Alam naman ng mga taga-Silang na nag-declare na si Vice Mayor na tatakbo syang Mayor sa bayan namin. Siguro sa patas na labanan mahihirapan talaga sya kaya siguro nagre-resort sya sa mga harassment at pag-file ng case,” he said.

The charges against Anarna were based on COA's audit observation memorandum, which the municipality answered last February.

As for the complaint filed against him by Edgardo Bayan, Anarna said that the former served as head of security of former mayor Obel Poblete.

Aside from Anarna, the Ombudsman also ordered the preventive suspension of Municipal Administrator and Bids and Awards Committee chairman Nathaniel Anarna Jr., who is the brother of the mayor.
