Residents in Catanduanes are still reeling from the aftermath of several storms, having no homes to return to after Pepito ravaged everything in its path.

According to authorities, no less than 500 houses were completely destroyed by the super typhoon and 4,000 were partially damaged.

"Hindi naman buong Catanduanes [ang nasiraan ng bahay] pero malaking parte po doon lalo na sa Panganiban... talaga pong wasak [ang mga bahay]," NDRRMC Executive Director Usec. Ariel Nepomuceno said in an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo's Johnson Ikwento Mo.

Nepomuceno added that the agricultural damage from Pepito's onslaught alone is estimated at P266 million, which is apart from the earlier recorded P7 billion agricultural damage from previous storms.

He continued on to say that around P709 million worth of damages to infrastructure were recorded in Regions 2, 3, 5, and Cordillera Administrative Region. This is apart from the earlier recorded P10.4 billion infrastructure damages from previous storms that hit the country.

When asked if the government could still release funds to help the calamity-stricken areas, the NDRRMC official said he is confident in Marcos Jr.'s administration that it would give financial help to the regions.
