MANILA — Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba on Friday asked for aid to help the province where villages and streets are still submerged by floods after being hit by four back-to-back tropical cyclones in the past three weeks.

"Our responders, our people have not been able to recover over the past three weeks. In fact, some of our evacuees have to stay in evacuation centers for a very long time and need continuous food and support. We need at least some form of assistance for our people," he told ANC's "Dateline Philippines".

The four cyclones that ravaged the province include severe tropical storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon. Typhoons Marce and Ofel, meanwhile, made landfall over Cagayan, on November 7 and November 14, respectively.

Mamba expressed worry on the possible impact of Pepito, which is forecast to further intensify and may reach super typhoon category on Sunday.

"We fear the coming in of Pepito even Bicol, in the Aurora province or Quezon province. Because we had this during Ulysses. It entered through the Bicol region but when the water went up to northern luzon, exiting the Ilocos area... A lot of water went to Cagayan," He explained.

The Cagayan region is known to be a catch basin of water from surrounding mountain ranges, areas, and those that get released from Magat Dam in Isabela.
