Handout/DOST-PAGASA"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Typhoon Ofel as of 7:00 p.m. on November 13, 2024. <em>Handout/DOST-PAGASA</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATE</strong>) -- More areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 as typhoon Ofel (international name: Usagi) threatens northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said Wednesday afternoon. </p><p>In its 8 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Ofel was last located 425 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 160 kph. </p><p>Signal No. 2, where gale-force winds can cause minor to moderate threat to life and property, is currently raised over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the northern and eastern portions of Isabela, Apayao and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte. </p><p>Signal No. 1 is also raised over Batanes, the rest of Isabela, Quirino, the northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the rest of Ilocos Norte, and the northern portion of Aurora, where strong winds are expected within 36 hours.</p><p>PAGASA also warned of intense to torrential rains over Cagayan and Isabela from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon, while heavy to intense rains may persist over Apayao and Kalinga.</p><p>Moderate to heavy rains may also be experienced over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Abra,Mountain Province, Ifugao, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora. </p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1731503039326viber_image_2024-11-13_20-30-51-975.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="The track and intensity forecast of Typhoon Ofel as of 8:00 p.m. on November 13, 2024.
