MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman on Friday said it found suspended Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama guilty of nepotism.

The Ombudsman said Rama is dismissed from service and is perpetually disqualified for reemployment in the government.

In May, the Ombudsman ordered Rama and seven others placed under preventive suspension pending the probe of cases on grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a public officer, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, grave abuse of authority (oppression), and violation of the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees. - report from Annie Perez
