Residents reel from the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in Barangays San Sebastian and Looc in Balete, Batangas, five days after massive flooding and landslides hit the area.

People are still struggling to reach several barangays in the coastal towns around Taal Lake after intense rainfall led to severe flooding and landslides. With main roads remaining impassable due to thick mud and debris, people have no choice but to travel by boat to reach other parts of the town.

Some houses, which were originally located meters from the water, have been submerged, along with parts of the port and the main road as water levels in the lake rose due to the large volume of rain dumped by the storm. Other residents believe that some parts of the land moved closer to the water due to the series of landslides.
