<p>MANILA — TheLand Transportation Office (LTO) chiefof Bustos town in Bulacan has been relieved forhis alleged involvement with fixers.</p><p>LTO head Vigor Mendoza II said Carlito Calingo will be replaced by his deputy, Rachel Farin, pending the results of a probe for administrative cases.</p><p>The cases stemmed from a National Bureau of Investigation operation in September.</p><p>“Mr. Calingo was relieved from his post effective October 1,” said Mendoza in a statement.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/7/9/lto-collects-nearly-p1-b-in-fines-penalties-for-2024-1st-half-922" id="isPasted">•LTO collects nearly P1-B in fines, penalties for 2024 1st half </a></div><p>Mendoza has warned LTO personnel against allowing fixers to operate and against working with them in those operations since his appointment to head the LTO in July 2023.</p><p>Aside from Calingo, Mendoza disclosed that the LTO is also investigating two more district office chiefs in connection with the aggressive operation against fixers.</p><p>“Once we establish sufficient pieces of evidence... we will not hesitate to file the necessary charges against them,” said Mendoza. </p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/29/lto-pnp-data-sharing-pact-to-check-vehicles-used-for-crimes-718" id="isPasted">•LTO, PNP data-sharing pact to check vehicles used for crimes</a> </div><p>He said the office of Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista was already informed of the relief of Calingo and the ongoing investigation into two more LTO officials.</p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VsQvvSoJBBk?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
