CEBU CITY — The Bureau of Immigration and the Philippine National Police are documenting and investigating the presence of 38 undocumented Chinese nationals inside a resort in the town of Moalboal, Cebu.

Local officials were conducting a routine inspection of establishments in the town when they saw foreigners inside the resort in Barangay Saavedra on Wednesday afternoon.

PMaj. Brigido Paca, chief of the Moalboal Police Station, said the foreigners initially said they were on vacation. But authorities found various computers and printers at the resort.

In an interview with MyTV Cebu, Moalboal Mayor Inocentes Cabaron said that prior to the inspection, the foreigners had requested “high-speed WiFi”, a requirement to set up POGO activities.

The Department of Justice, Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and Regional Anti-cybercrime Unit were on site and trying to reach out to the resort's owner.
