MANILA -- Bangsamoro officials on Tuesday assured that next year's first BARMM parliamentary elections will be very inclusive, even to members of non-Moro sectors of the autonomous region.

"In fact, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, mayroon pa ho tayong tinatawag na mga reserved seats para ho sa atin pong mga members of the parliament. Ito pong mga reserved seats, ito po iyong para sa mga sektor ng lipunan ho na based on history ay nahihirapan pong makakuha ng representation in the Bangsamoro parliament or in the Bangsamoro legislative space ‘no – ito po iyong mga non-Moro indigenous peoples, mayroon po tayong reserved seats for Christian settlers, sa atin pong youth, Ulama, traditional leaders at iba pa," BARMM spokesman Cabinet Secretary Mohd Asnin Pendatun said in a televised briefing.

Pendatun says the leaders' platform of governance should speak to different sectors of the BARMM, including indigenous peoples and Christian settlers in the region.

The filing of certificates of candidacy in the BARMM will take place on November 2-9, with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) pushing back the filing period after the Supreme Court ruled that Sulu is not part of the region.

Meanwhile, Pendatun says regional authorities are conducting information-education campaigns to encourage a higher turnout and generate more awareness on the importance of the landmark polls.
