If there are a couple of things the recent TWICE x Oishi Snacktacular Fan Meet proved, it’s that first, Filipinos sure love snacks. Second, the Philippines, without a doubt, loves the iconic girl group, TWICE.

Organized by the Philippine snack brand, thousands of Filipino Onces gathered at the SM Mall of Asia arena last June 1 to have fun with the K-pop group in a unique setting.

Unlike their last stop in the Philippines for their Ready To Be World tour on September 30 and October 1 last year at the Philippine Arena, this event was more about having fun and games with their fans. All throughout the fan meet, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu competed for giant bags of snacks to take home to Korea. The first time TWICE went to the Philippines was in 2019 for the 'TWICELIGHTS' in Manila tour.

Earlier in the day, when the girls were asked who was the most competitive in TWICE, their unanimous choice was their leader, Jihyo. And it showed during the event when Jihyo showed off her playful competitive energy which got a lot of laughs and applause from the crowd.

As with Philippine fan meets, idols usually show off their linguistic skills busting out a few Filipino phrases. TWICE was no different but they made it feel extra special with a dose of aegyo courtesy of Sana doing her best “ay nako, talaga” for the audience.

Another highlight of the event was when the girls each made customized snack buckets for some lucky fans to take home via a raffle which was conducted during the pre-show event. The winners received one-of-a-kind snacks, literally hand-picked and labeled by TWICE. A 1-of-1 fan merch that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

Though they did not perform any full songs during the fan meet, TWICE still danced to a few of their greatest hits like 'Talk That Talk,' 'Set Me Free,' 'More and More,' and 'The Feels' together with the Oishi mascots. Host Robi Domingo also did a lot of heavy lifting, making sure that both the girls and the crowd were all engaged during the snacktacular fan meet.

The event ended with a montage of fan-made videos for the girls and TWICE thanking Filipinos for supporting them for so long. They hoped that next time they’d have more time to explore the Philippines and finally try the famous halo-halo.

And judging from the reception of the fans during the event, this most likely won’t be the last time TWICE comes to the Philippines. Whether it’s for another concert or another fan meet, the only answer is Yes or Yes as Filipino Onces are still going strong even after close to nine years since the group’s debut.

Before their fan meet, the TWICE members also graced a press conference, where they talked about their collaboration with Oishi and shared fun facts and trivia about each other.

Last September 2023, the beloved Filipino snack brand Oishi unveiled their partnership with TWICE through a 60-second video reenacting the music video of their 2018 hit 'What is Love?' and featuring four of Oishi’s most loved snacks: Spicy Oishi Prawn Crackers, Pillows, Potato Fries, and Miggos.

This 2024, they took their collaboration a step further, first with O, Wow O, Wow Bag, which includes Oishi snacks and an Oishi x TWICE photocard. This was followed by the TWICE x Oishi Snacktacular Fan Bag, which Onces could purchase for a special edition Oishi x TWICE selca photocard, a card sleeve or a poster, and most importantly, a chance to win tickets to the fan meet.

On this unique collaboration with Oishi, Dahyun commented, 'Firstly, all the members love snacks! Secondly, Oishi is a brand that represents the Philippines, and is a famous brand here. We wanted to collaborate with Oishi to create a good synergy with snacks in the Philippines.'

No doubt, these girls love the Oishi snacks but their favorite is Miggos! 'Miggos is our favorite one! Even when we were in Korea, we kept asking for more Miggos,' shared leader Jihyo.

Referencing the flavors mentioned in their video for Oishi, Robi asked the TWICE sub-units fun questions related to those flavors.

Mina and Chaeyoung were asked about their most recent 'sweet sweet' moment. They said that the fact they're together is already a sweet moment. But citing a particular memory, Mina shared that when they were in the US for their tour, they went into a shop and saw a very cute teddy bear necklace. They bought it—more specifically, Mina shared that Chaeyoung bought it for her.

Nayeon, Sana, and Tzuyu were then asked to recall memorable and 'cheesy cheesy' gifts they received from their fellow TWICE members. The question takes cue from the part in their video where they were opening a gift box with the Oishi Potato Fries inside.

Tzuyu said that she receives many gifts from the other TWICE members but what is really memorable for her is when Momo gave all the members pajamas for Christmas, wrapped in a very cute packaging.

For Nayeon, the gift that stood out for her was the air purifier Jeongyeon gave her, which she had been wanting to buy for a long time.

As for Sana, all gifts she received from the other TWICE members are memorable. But if there's a thoughtful gift she always sees in her house, it's the wall clock that was gifted to her by Mina. She said through a translator, 'The quality of my lifestyle is getting one level higher every day when I look at the wall clock.'

In line with the 'corny corny' energy of the campaign for Miggos, Dahyun and Jeongyeon were asked to talk about an activity they enjoy doing together when they're not performing.

Both of these girls knew exactly what to say; they shared that there's a game in Korea called the 'what if' game where people would simply share their thoughts on a 'what if' scenario. 'The TWICE members love asking questions,' the translator said.

Lastly, for the 'anghang anghang' snack variant, Robi asked Jihyo and Momo about their spicy food tolerance. Although they admit they can't handle spicy food that well, they love that the Spicy Oishi Prawn Crackers only has a bit of spiciness and is absolutely tolerable and therefore snack-worthy.
