Instead of 'bye,' we're pretty sure many fangirls/fanboys are now saying 'hello' to being new STAYs (fans of Stray Kids).

The eight-member K-Pop group performed *NSync's 'Bye Bye Bye' (2000) seamlessly mashed up with their own song, 'Chk Chk Boom,' at the American Music Awards' (AMAs) 50th anniversary special held on October 6. And it was an absolute treat for fans of 90s boybands and new K-Pop boy groups.

Stray Kids honored *NSync and brought to life onstage one of that generation's most iconic dance moves (the marionette-inspired choreo). *NSync also performed 'Bye Bye Bye' at the AMAs in 2000, making this modern interpretation all the more special and apt for the awards show's golden milestone.

*NSync and AMAs have a collab post of this performance on Instagram, and the group captioned: 'What an honor to see @realstraykids recreate the “Bye Bye Bye” marionette moment on stage tonight at the @amas! Congrats on an amazing performance 👏 #amas50'

Interestingly, *NSync member Lance Bass, alongside Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, introduced this number. On social media, Lance commented on Stray Kids' performance, writing, “Been there, danced that... and Stray Kids just owned it.”

'Bye Bye Bye' was featured in the soundtrack of the 2024 blockbuster superhero movie Deadpool & Wolverine (starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman), reason why the song became popular again.
