Sang Heon spent some time in the Philippines to film this project and explore some of the country’s culinary treasures and tourist spots in between, too. He was spotted trying out street food and swimming at the Daranak and Batlag Falls in Tanay, Rizal.

In a sit-down interview with him and his co-star, Julia, we asked him about his thoughts on Filipino food. Sang Heon told Metro.Style, “It’s amazing! I didn’t eat Korean food for, like, a month, and I’m fine… you got some spice, you got some saltiness. Rice. You guys love rice!... Yeah, but it’s all filling, and the meat game is strong here.”

But food is not the only thing Sang Heon found amazing in the Philippines. He also pointed out how “everyone’s so friendly” on their set. No matter the circumstances during their shoots, he said, “Everyone joked around. Everyone put a smile on their faces.”

He also exuded that same friendly, approachable, and easygoing vibe. And Julia is thankful that her first impression of him was accurate. When asked to pick an emoji to describe Sang Heon during their first meeting, she picked out the smiling face with sunglasses emoji and said, “Our first meeting was warm and cool and open, and he gave me that vibe that it was going to be easy to get along with him.”

“I definitely liked every time Julia came on set [as] she tried to be as happy as possible. Even if she feels sick or tired, she does not let that become an excuse. She always tried to make sure once the camera is rolling, she gets the take perfectly,” Sang Heon said.

Julia, on the other hand, shared, “You know, coming from how he was on the set, when the pressure is real, when there is a bit of tension already, especially when we got to get things done, I do notice his effort to kind of break that, to make people laugh, to make people smile. He is the type who notices when you are feeling a little bit down or tired, or thinking about something. The thing about SH is he always asks. That’s what I noticed about him. He’d ask, like, ‘You good?’ You all right?’... I think it’s that constant checking in and constant effort to keep it light. The takeaway is that when the tension arises or pressure arises, he’d always find the humor and whatever, just smile.”
