Top Korean actor Park Hyung Sik held a two-hour fan meet in Manila last February 17. Dubbed the 'SIKcret Time,' this 2024 Asia Tour Fan Meeting gathered the Doctor Slump star's 'SIKcret agents' at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The mission? To have tons of fun with Park Hyung Sik, catching up with him and getting to know him on a deeper level. The last time he was in Manila was in 2019 for a fun meet with clothing and lifestyle brand Bench.

Host Janeena Chan also had a mission: teach Agent H (aka Park Hyung Sik) some Filipino words, phrases, expressions, and sentences. Since he had been to the Philippines before, he already knew a few statements in Filipino. “Kumusta po? [“How are you?”],” he greeted his fans. “I really missed all of you.”

Janeena asked him, “Na-miss mo ba talaga kami? [“Did you really miss us?”]” To everyone’s delight, Park Hyung Sik replied, “Sobrang na-miss ko kayong lahat! [“I really missed all of you!”]

One of the segments, called the “Code Breaking Ability Test,” in Park Hyung Sik’s 2024 Asia Tour Fan Meeting “SIKcret Time in Manila” was interactive. There were Filipino words flashed on the big screen, and Park Hyung Sik was tasked to not only say those words but guess what they meant as well, with the help of select fans who gave him clues.

Watch Park Hyung Sik speak Filipino in the video below:

This fan meet brought Park Hyung Sik closer to Filipinos who, he observes, are very passionate people. He said through the translator, “You’re very passionate talaga. That’s why, because of you, natuwa talaga ako and you gave me so much energy to bring back home. You’re the best!” [“You’re really very passionate. That’s why, because of you, I had fun and you gave me so much energy to bring back home. You’re the best!”]

When asked to rate the fan meet on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, he quickly answered, “100!” Park Hyung Sik was so game in learning Filipino/Tagalog. Mission accomplished for Janeena and the SIKcrets!

He said he looks forward to coming back to the Philippines to experience scuba diving in “this beautiful country.” He also said that if he could, he would just stay in the country to try scuba diving and eat Filipino food which he described as “masarap[delicious].

In 2010, Park Hyung Sik debuted in the entertainment scene as a member of the South Korean boy group ZE:A. The popular 2013 K-drama The Heirs marked his debut as an actor. He is famous for K-dramas High Society, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, Strong Girl Bong Soon, Suits, Happiness, and Our Blooming Youth. His latest series is Doctor Slump, where he stars alongside actress Park Shin Hye.
