To honor their Filipino listeners and how they turn to the global streaming platform for self-expression, Spotify recently launched “Authenticity on Aux.” At the event, digital creator and entrepreneur Dani Barretto gave us a glimpse of what her passion project is all about.

“Podcasting is a unique platform, where it’s less about curating your content but being an open book. This is who I am—I love giving advice and sharing my experiences,” Dani said.

Titled “The Bare It All,” Dani’s podcast reflects her most authentic self. Through this, she tries to connect with her audience on a deeper level by being her raw and most genuine self. By establishing this kind of bond, she hopes to empower people as well.

Catching up with Dani at the music-filled affair, we were able to have a better feel of what her platform is championing.

“‘Bare It All’ kasi is my baby. So whatever ‘Bare It All’ is, it’s basically everything I believed [in] and advocated,” she began. “‘Bare It All’ is about basically sharing your experiences, sharing each other’s advocacies.”

When asked if there was ever a point in her life where she had to change who she is to be accepted, Dani told Metro.Style in a quick catch-up: “I come from a family of celebrities. I grew up with families that are in the spotlight so I had a hard time finding my own thing, my own niche, that the people would be accepting of.”

She added, “[I want] to find something that I’m actually good at and people will respect me for it or love me for it and not just because I’m related to Julia, I’m related to my aunt, or because I’m a Barretto.”

As to what conversations she wished she could have documented in the past, Dani noted that it is the advice that she gets from her younger siblings. “Everybody knows that we’re very close but my siblings are sometimes wiser than me in a sense that they also give me the best advice,” she proudly admitted.

Dani continued, “Since ’yung mga experiences nila, hindi ko na-experience, ang ganda ng mesh kasi kapag kailangan ko ’yung advice nila on a certain level or in a certain way, they’re able to always give me the best advice when it comes to life.”

Dani also emphasized that her heart-to-heart talks with family, including her mom Marjorie Barretto, are always worth remembering. She said, “Ever since I became a mom, we became really close, as in closer than ever... It’s always nice to know that I can always run to my mom about these things.”

In her podcast, she invites guests to talk about topics close to their hearts. Her first guest was her husband, Xavi Panlilio, and their episode focused on self-love and confidence. When asked how she chooses her guests, Dani shared that it’s very important for her that she resonates with their stories.

Recently, Jana Berenguer, a single mom who has a son with cerebral palsy, was a guest on her podcast, and Dani said that she deeply resonated with her when it comes to mom guilt. “There were a lot of times na frustrations really come when you’re a mother, especially when you’re a first-time mother. I think it was the first time that I was able to talk to a mother and pareho kami ng wavelength in a sense. Pareho kami ng pagkakaintindihan na normal ’yun. You don’t have to feel guilty about it. Moms can also get tired. Moms can also get stressed. But at the end of the day, just know how to apologize to your kids, explain what the frustration was. And it doesn’t make you a bad parent; it just makes you human.”

“The Bare It All” podcast is all about raw, real, and relatable stories. Through this platform, Dani hopes to inspire people by taking into account her and her guests’ various experiences and stories that make us all human.
