Catriona Gray Talks About Her Wedding Preparations

We caught up with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray in the “Join the Flip Side” event by Samsung. In our exclusive interview, Catriona talked about having to map out the wedding intricacies that she and Sam Milby are currently faced with. “They are coming along slowly. I didn’t realize that wedding planning was such an intricate process,” she shares with Metro.Style when asked how her wedding preparations are coming along.

I didn’t realize that wedding planning was such an intricate process,” she shares with Metro.Style when asked how her wedding preparations are coming along.

As the soon-to-be wife, Catriona finds wedding preparations a bit overwhelming as well, so having the right mindset and tools like her Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 eases the planning process. She says, “There’s so much detail and I’m just wanting to get all the logistics stuff out of the way so I can focus on the creative part, which I really love. So, things like mood boards and vision boards, I’m constantly creating which I do on my Fold ’cause I love making kind of, like, a notebook setup where I’ll click and drag different reference photos and add notes and color palette. That’s something that really helps me as a tool to really process information. Also, communicate with my team. For example, if I have a designer, I can just show, 'Oh, this is my mood board.' It has references and colors and swatches and notes. It’s fun but also overwhelming, but a lot of fun.”

“A lot of different things will always be pulling your attention, but being able to really manage your time allows you to maximize the time that you spend on each activity,” she points out, noting that time management is the key to making things work for a multi-hyphenate like her. “Find things and tools that really allow you to be efficient and productive.”

“[Here’s] the thing that makes it [wedding planning] difficult, which is actually really odd: I’ve never been to a wedding as an adult,” Catriona shares. “The last wedding I attended, I was like nine years old and I was like a flower girl for my Tito. But before that, I was five, for my Tita. So, yeah, I have absolutely no idea how weddings are supposed to go, the flow of the program. So, I keep asking Sam who, on the contrary, has been to a lot of weddings. So, he’s my reference point for that.”

I also want to feel his voice in the wedding. Because his motto is really like 'I just want you to be happy. It’s your day.' I’m like, 'I know, but I want your vision in here too,'” the blushing bride-to-be says.

As Catriona’s schedule is also packed with trips and work here-and-there, she would love to see herself stick to daily routine on a non-working day when she’s not busy planning for the wedding. Getting some sunshine, cuddling with her dogs, and working out are the things that keep her mood sunny.

I would love to bring him to where I grew up in Cairns, Australia, and show him my childhood house and my school,” she tells us.
