The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) church has purchased another property in the United States, this time in the state of Connecticut.

INC purchased Johnsonville town in East Haddam, Connecticut.

According to Glicerio Santos Jr., INC general auditor, the property was seen on the internet by Eduardo Manalo, who became interested in purchasing it for their brethren.

"Gusto ng Kapatid Eduardo Manalo na 'yung ating mga kapatid ay makinabang sa mga eco-farming (projects) natin," he said.

(Brother Eduardo Manalo wants the brethren to benefit from eco-farming projects planned in the new property.)

Johnsonville was once a twine mill and a tourist attraction. It was abandoned for around two decades.

The property has a size of 25 hectares, where 14 houses, two warehouses and a chapel were built.

"Yung ating nabiling property ay malaking maitutulong para sa komunidad sapagkat 'yung property na 'yun ay dinadayo ng mga turista sapagkat napakaganda ng mga bahay. Ire-revive natin doon, kaya 'yung community ay tuwang tuwa," Santos said.

(The brethren will benefit from the new property because it is a tourist attraction. We will revive it, and the community is very happy with the purchase.)

Santos led the signing of legal documents for the purchase of the property.

The sale also caught the attention of several American news agencies.

In 2011, INC bought a 46-acre property in Scenic, South Dakota.
