(UPDATED) A Filipino and his 4 daughters were killed in a car accident in Delaware on their way home from a beach vacation, relatives confirmed Sunday.

The lone survivor was the New Jersey-based man's 53-year-old wife, Mary Rose Ballocanag, according to initial reports.

The family's vehicle was traversing the Delaware Highway 1 on Friday when a pick-up truck crossed the road's grassy median and hit them, said Ballocanag's aunt, Lydia Agas.

Ballocanag was napping during the accident and woke up with her husband's lifeless body thrown across her lap, Agas told ABS-CBN News.

Ballocanag's 61-year-old husband Audie Trinidad and their daughters Kaitlyn, 20; Danna, 17; and teen twins Allison and Melissa all died on the spot.

Hundreds of mourners have lighted candles and left flowers at the Votee Park in Teaneck, New Jersey to show their support for the family.

"Tonight, hug your children, hug your friends, comfort each other. I’m so blessed to be with the Teaneck Community and grieving with you for the Trinidad family," Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin said during a program for the Trinidads.

An online fundraiser for Ballocanag's medical expenses, meanwhile, has raised around $67,000.

Ballocanag, who hails from Mindoro province, has yet to decide on funeral arrangements for her husband and daughters, her aunt said.

"The relatives are not yet all together, and we are waiting for Mary Rose to get better, maybe she can have an input," Agas said.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fatal accident. They have yet to file charges. -- Report from Don Tagala, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
