U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (July 8) that he wants one company to modernize the Air Traffic Control System.

"You don't want to have one doing the wire and one doing the digging and one doing the demolition," the president said during a Cabinet meeting.

According to the White House, the Trump administration plans to replace outdated infrastructure with fiber, wireless, and satellite technologies at over 4,600 air traffic control sites — including 25,000 new radios, more than 600 new radars, and 475 new voice switches.

Trump said the modernization will be completed in about two years.
