Reseda, California — In a joyful display of Filipino faith and heritage, the St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Reseda hosted its first-ever Santacruzan procession on Saturday, May 3, drawing parishioners and local residents into a vibrant celebration of culture and spirituality.

The Santacruzan, a beloved Filipino religious tradition, commemorates the journey of Empress Helena in her search for the Holy Cross. The event was spearheaded by Reverend Father Mauricio Goloran and organized in partnership with Simon Paculan, President of the Our Lady of Antipolo Reseda Chapter.

The day began with a solemn procession that started at St. Catherine of Siena School and concluded with a special Mass at the church. Members of the Disciples of the Divine Trinity Group played an active role in the procession, enhancing the ceremony’s spiritual atmosphere and sense of community.

Among the highlights of the event were the Reynas—young women who represent various virtues and religious symbols. This year’s Reynas included:

    •    Reyna Elena – Erica Madlangsakay

    •    Reyna Emperatriz – Alyssa Redondo

    •    Reyna de las Flores – Kirra Abarintos

    •    Reyna de los Angeles – Alyanna Santos

    •    Reyna Estrella – Elysha Faith Estrella

    •    Reyna del Cielo – Luella Abelita

    •    Reyna Caridad – Mariel Mendoza

The Reynas wore stunning gowns designed by acclaimed Filipino American fashion designer Carl Andrada. The Hermano Mayor of the event was Hon. Ralph Jacob Viloria, Vice Consul of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.

“It was truly heartwarming to witness the devotion and enthusiasm of our parishioners and the wider community during this year’s Santacruzan,” said Fr. Goloran. “This event reflects not only our shared faith but also the richness of our Filipino heritage.”

Simon Paculan added, “It was an honor to help bring this meaningful tradition to life at St. Catherine of Siena. The support and participation from all corners of the community made this Santacruzan truly special.”

St. Catherine of Siena Parish extended its gratitude to the many volunteers and organizations who helped make the event possible, including the USA Philippines Business Association and its members Eliza Serna, Ivy Veneracion, and Adrian Lecaros.
