LOS ANGELES – Following last year’s success that drew over 10,000 attendees, Baryo HiFi is set to return for its second annual celebration on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The vibrant street festival will once again transform Historic Filipinotown into a hub of Filipino culture, music, food, and community.

“In light of the tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Festival, we stand with our Filipino Canadian community,” said Jennifer Taylor, co-founder of Baryo HiFi and a Fil-Am community leader. “We’re taking extra steps to ensure a safe, welcoming space for everyone. Now more than ever, it’s important to gather, uplift, and celebrate one another.”

This free, grassroots event is made possible by the Historic Filipinotown community, the City and County of Los Angeles, and the collective efforts of local creatives. Key sponsors include comedian Jo Koy, Nike, Mama Sita’s, SoundCloud, Pili Ani, and TFC.

The festival boasts a multigenerational music lineup, headlined by legendary OPM group VST & Co., the “Queen of OPM” Pops Fernandez, and rising Filipino-American artists such as P-Lo, Guapdad 4000, Yeek, Noodles, and SOSUPERSAM.

Food lovers can look forward to an expanded culinary lineup featuring Filipino-American businesses like San Diego’s Animae, led by James Beard nominee Chef Tara Monsod, and popular vegan bakery San & Wolves. The marketplace, curated by Sari Sari Studio and Mayumi Market, will highlight Filipino streetwear, crafts, vintage collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds, including pieces from Buttery Pat and Tried & Trued Co.

One of this year’s highlights is Working Overtime, a multidisciplinary art exhibit presented by Nike and curated by Kristofferson San Pablo. The exhibit explores Filipino artistry through the lens of basketball, showcasing themes of hustle, resilience, and community—values deeply rooted in Filipino culture.

“As Filipinos, we’re often the ones working behind the scenes in industries like entertainment, healthcare, and hospitality,” said co-founder and marketing consultant Stephanie Ramos. “With Baryo HiFi, we wanted to create a platform where our community is seen and celebrated.”

Co-founder and event producer Miles Canares added, “Everyone volunteered their time, talents, and resources. This isn’t a corporate event—it’s a grassroots movement built by and for the community. That’s what makes it powerful.”

From live performances and cultural workshops to family-friendly activities and storytelling, Baryo HiFi invites all generations and backgrounds to come together in a celebration of Filipino identity, heritage, and creative expression.
