A towering 60-foot (18.3 meters) balloon depicting celebrity Kim Kardashian recently made its appearance in Times Square.

"It's typical of Times Square because they like to do things on a very big scale. And it's Kim Kardashian, of course, and Kim Kardashian's rear end," said Joel Perelmuth on Wednesday (March 5).

Perelmuth, however, did not take a particular liking to the balloon.

"It's a little too crazy," he said. "It's a little too out there for Kim Kardashian, although she likes to be out there."

In contrast, 23-year-old Grace Ertel found the balloon "beautiful."

"I like it because I feel as a woman it gives me confidence to wear wherever I want to wear and be whatever body type I want to be and it will be accepted and hopefully loved, maybe not by a lot of beauty standards, but it's not up to other people how my body is loved," she said.

The Gravemakers, a couple from Holland, believed that such a spectacle is "something that can only happen in America" because it's "so big."

Rens Gravemaker added, "I think it's really good marketing."

The balloon was erected to promote Skims Swim - their new swimwear collection set to go on sale on Thursday (March 6).

Skims, a company co-founded by Kardashian, launched in 2019 and sells bras, loungewear and shapewear directly to customers through its online store and at outlets owned by department store chains.
