OSLO, Norway -- Over 300 people are nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize, organizers said Wednesday, with politicians claiming they had put US President Donald Trump and Pope Francis forward for the award.

In line with Nobel statutes, the identity of the candidates is kept confidential for 50 years -- but the two are among the big names floated this year, along with former NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg.
