Catholic Cardinal Baldassare Reina held a mass for Pope Francis on Wednesday (February 26) at Rome's Gemelli hospital, where the pontiff is battling double pneumonia.

Reina, who is also the Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome, held the Eucharistic Adoration at the hospital's St. John Paul II Chapel, attended by faithful and health workers.

The 88-year-old pope is spending his 13th day at the hospital, the longest such stay of his nearly 12-year-old papacy.

In the morning, the Vatican said Francis rested well, and a Vatican official, who did not wish to be named because he was not authorized to discuss the pope's condition, said Francis was alert and continuing his treatments, and was able to eat normally and move about his hospital room.
