It is moving southwestward at 15 kph.</p><p>It will intensify into a tropical storm today, with wind signal no. 2 as the highest wind warning that will be raised during its passage.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/2/4/basyang-may-develop-into-tropical-storm-wind-signal-1-in-surigao-del-sur-0707">Basyang may develop into tropical storm; wind signal 1 in Surigao del Sur</a></div><p>The storm will make landfall over eastern Mindanao between Thursday evening and Friday early morning.</p><p>It may weaken into a tropical depression while crossing northeastern Mindanao and Central and Western Visayas and will be over the Sulu Sea on Saturday morning.</p><p>Basyang will also cross northern Palawan Saturday afternoon or evening before emerging over the West Philippine Sea on Sunday, where it may be downgraded further to a remnant low pressure area.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>FORECAST<br/></strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The storm will bring significant rainfall over the eastern part of Mindanao from today, spreading to most of Visayas and Mindanao through midday Friday, with heavy to intense rains likely in Caraga, Southern Leyte, Bohol, and parts of Northern Mindanao.</p><p>From midday Friday to Saturday noon, Basyang’s rains will be over Negros, Western Visayas, and MIMAROPA.</p><p>Widespread and serious flooding and landslides are likely in many areas.</p><p>The public is advised to continue monitoring updates and take actions to protect life and property.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DUGkL4Y2gxc?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
