Weather bureau PAGASA has raised a yellow rainfall alert over Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, Pampamga and portions of Batangas and Laguna as of 8 a.m. Thursday, indicating 7.5 mm-15 mm rains within one hour, which will continue in the next two hours.

A yellow warning means flooding is possible in low-lying areas and near river channels.

Several cities in Metro Manila have already canceled classes.

PAGASA said Metro Manila,  Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro will experience 50-100 mm of rains Thursday due to the southwest monsoon.

Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte will also experience similar amount of rain due to a low pressure area.

As of 3 a.m. Thursday, July 3, the LPA was located 125 km east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan. It may move northwestward towards Extreme Northern Luzon.

Potential for tropical cyclone formation of the LPA off Northern Luzon in the next 24 hours remains medium.

The LPA and the southwest monsoon could bring significant rainfall in Northern Luzon and western sections of Central and Southern Luzon until Saturday.

Heavy to intense rains are forecast in Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro on Friday.

The threats of flooding and landslides in flood-prone areas and mountainous terrains, respectively, remain.

The LPA could still develop as a tropical cyclone by weekend, before it exits the Philippine area of responsibility. It will be assigned the local name Bising.
