A total of 25 areas are set to face dangerous heat index levels of 42 degrees Celsius and above this Wednesday, with Dagupan City leading the list with temperatures hitting 45 degrees Celsius.

Dagupan has registered dangerous heat index levels for the past 5 days, with the hottest temperature recorded last Monday, April 21, at 47 degrees Celsius. Heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity combines with air.

Weather bureau PAGASA said the following areas will hit dangerous heat index levels on April 23:

Europe's climate monitor earlier warned global temperatures hovered at historic highs in March, prolonging an extraordinary heat streak that has tested scientific expectations.

The European Union monitor uses billions of measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft and weather stations to aid its climate calculations.

Scientists say the current period is likely the warmest the Earth has been for the last 125,000 years.

ITCZ AFFECTS SOUTHERN MINDANAO

Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi are set to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone. 

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
