MANILA -- Traffic along parts of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) remained light on Easter Sunday afternoon, although some areas saw an increase in vehicles as travelers returned to Metro Manila after the Holy Week break. 

As of 3:00 p.m., traffic along SLEX remained light in both directions. Northbound vehicles were moving smoothly from Sucat Exit to Nichols, with similar conditions southbound from Nichols to Bicutan and Sucat. 

MMDA to deploy 2,500 traffic personnel as vacationers return to Metro Manila 

As of 4:00 p.m., traffic started to build up northbound upon reaching Magallanes.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority earlier said it is deploying 2,500 personnel in anticipation of heavy traffic.

An estimated ten percent is expected to be added to the average of 350,000 vehicles traveling on NLEX as families returned from their Holy Week break in the provinces.

Many travelers had opted to leave early in the morning to prepare for the reopening of offices and schools the next day.
