MANILA — Light traffic is still observed in all areas of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) as travelers begin to return to their hometowns for the Holy Week.

The Skyway O&M Corporation, which manages SLEX and skyway, said they have yet to observe a surge in travelers but are already expecting an increasing in the coming days.

"[As of 8:20 p.m. (April 15)], light traffic na po tayo [sa] lahat ng areas natin — skyway elevated, SLEX, at Star Tollways... hindi gano'n ka-buhos ['yung mga bumabyahe]," Leopoldo Vitug Jr., overall head for Traffic Management and Security Department of Skyway O&M Corporation, said in an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo's Johnson Ikwento Mo.

Vitug also advised motorists to take advantage of the current light traffic so that travelers won't be stuck in case the roads become congested.

When asked on the management's contingency plans in case heavy congestion is observed, Vitug said they have several personnel on standby, including medical, fire, and quick response teams, in cases of emergency.
