At least 5 areas are facing "dangerous" 42 degree Celsius heat index this Friday as the incoming dry season draws near, weather bureau PAGASA said.

The 5 areas facing 42-degree heat index are:

Dagupan City, Pangasinan

Iba, Zambales

Ambling, Tanauan, Batangas

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

Cuyo, Palawan

PAGASA classifies temperatures reaching 42-51 degrees Celsius as “dangerous”, with residents possibly experiencing heat cramps and heat exhaustion.

Metro Manila will continue to experience hot weather this Friday, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

PAGASA weather forecaster Dan Villamil said the prevailing hot weather in Metro Manila is a precursor of the incoming dry season.

“Panimulang init pa lang ito, magpi-peak ‘yan sa bandang April,” he said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

The shear line continues to affect the eastern section of Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Mainland Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Isabela, and Aurora.

Caraga, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains due to the amihan or northeast monsoon.
