The heat index in Dagupan City soared to 48°C this Friday, March 28, state weather bureau PAGASA reported.

This is the highest heat index this warm and dry season yet. Up to 20 areas are forecast to reach heat index values of 40°C or higher this Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30.

Heat index, also called apparent temperature, refers to how temperature feels to the human body. It is based on air temperature and relative humidity.

Dangerous heat index levels, which could lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion, may be experienced in Dagupan City, Butuan City, Cotabato City, Gen. Santos City, Pili, Camarines Sur, and Virac, Catanduanes.
