MANILA — A three-day transport strike by transport group Manila officially started Monday, with some commuters waiting for at least 15 minutes just to catch a jeepney ride at Philcoa, Quezon City.

Mean Paguio waited more than 15 minutes just to take a ride with her children to the hospital.

Konti po ngayon (ang jeep) hirap po (sumakay) ngayon," she said.

A working student named Pao Luzon got stressed out because he cannot ride a jeep.

Ako mapapagalitan," Luzon said.

Jessica Villegas said she would book a ride on a motor-taxi app if she is unable to get a jeepney ride.

Pag late na," she said.

For Paolo Lapasaran, a motor-taxi driver, this is an opportunity for additional passengers.

Nagbabaka-sakali na maraming booking kasi walang mga jeep," Lapasaran said.

Meanwhile, jeepney drivers who participated in the strike, arrived early at Philcoa. Among them is Rex Lopez who showed his strong opposition on the consolidation of franchise.

Another driver, Jun Quilan, opted to take his regular route before participating in the program.

By around 7 a.m. many jeepneys continued to pass by Philcoa, catering to chance passengers along the road.
