MANILA -- A large part of the country will experience warm and humid weather as the Philippines eases into the warm and dry season this week.

According to ABS-CBN's resident meteorologist Ariel Rojas, the humid Easterlies will prevail over most of the country throughout the week.

This means hot weather especially in Northern and Central Luzon and central Mindanao.

But intense afternoon thunderstorms will take place in many parts of the country especially from Wednesday through Saturday due to the Easterlies and the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

There will be also a surge of northeasterly winds, forming a shear line over Extreme Northern Luzon from late Friday through the weekend.

The northeasterly surge and shear line may bring scattered rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and nearby areas during the weekend.

Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies on Monday; sunny and dry weather Tuesday and Wednesday; and mostly cloudy with afternoon and/or evening thunderstorms from Thursday through the weekend.
