Temperatures are slightly dropping in Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas Thursday due to the northeast monsoon and the shear line, weather bureau PAGASA said.

The shear line - an area where warm and cold air meet - is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Caraga, Sorsogon, and Masbate while the northeast monsoon is bringing  cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Bicol Region.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan.

“Ang heat index natin sa Maynila ay relatively lower dahil sa nag pe-persist na hanging amihan,” PAGASA weather forecaster John Manalo said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

Puerto Princesa City in Palawan is the only area forecast to experience dangerous heat index levels of 42 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA earlier said the northeast monsoon may soon end this weekend or next week, ushering in the warm and dry season.
