The northeast monsoon will continue to cool Luzon Wednesday but may soon end this weekend, ushering in the warm and dry season, weather bureau PAGASA said.

Cagayan Valley, Quezon, Aurora, Apayao, and the rest of Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with rains while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan or cold winds from the northeast that bring rains over the eastern side of the country.

PAGASA weather forecaster Ana Clauren Jorda said air temperature in Metro Manila is at 32 degrees Celsius but the heat index may reach 36 to 37 degrees Celsius.

“‘Yan ‘yung posible init na maramdaman natin sa Kamaynilaan,” she said.

Termination of the amihan may occur during the weekend or next week, she added.

The weather bureau said the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Caraga and Davao Region.

Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aklan, and Capiz will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Three areas are set to experience 42-degrees Celsius heat index levels: Coron, Palawan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.
