MANILA — The Land Transportation Office on Monday said it suspended the driver's license of George Royeca, co-founder and chief executive officer of the motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas, after a February 2 traffic incident in Cainta, Rizal.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza initially said they had revoked Royeca's license because he admitted to organizing the motorcade. But the LTO's Public Information Office later clarified that Royeca's license was just suspended for 90 days.

In a viral video, throngs of Angkas riders allegedly blocked the traffic flow at an intersection in Cainta so that their convoy could pass.

Royeca had admitted to organizing the Angkas riders, Mendoza noted.

Mendoza said Royeca surrendered to the LTO after the incident and took responsibility for the "mistake" of the Angkas riders.

Mendoza noted that some Angkas riders who joined the event were "under investigation" to determine their exact participation in the incident.

Royeca, who is running for a House seat in the 2025 polls as the first nominee of the ANGKASANGGA party-list, has apologized for the traffic incident involving Angkas drivers.

He said in a February 3 video that he "deeply" regretted the blunder and took "full responsibility" for it.

"There are no excuses for our actions. This should not have happened," he said.

"This is a failure to uphold discipline, safety, and compliance that Angkas has long stood for."

Royeca added that he was "fully cooperating" with authorities on the incident.
