LTO revokes license of viral Marilaque 'Superman stunt' survivor

MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday said it had revoked the driver's license of the survivor in the viral "Superman stunt" along the Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon (Marilaque) Highway in Tanay, Rizal, after he was found guilty of being unfit to ride a motorcycle.

The January 8 stunt had killed another rider and injured at least six other bystanders.

The LTO had ordered the surviving rider to explain why he should not be liable for reckless driving. But the agency said it found him unfit to operate a motor vehicle based on the evidence.

“The driver’s license that the government is issuing to the motorists is a privilege that comes with a responsibility that those who would get it would observe road safety and be a responsible driver at all times,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza said.

“Magsilbing aral sana ito sa lahat ng ating mga kasamang motorista, lalo na ang mga motorcycle rider, na hindi tamang lugar ang mga pampublikong kalsada sa mga ganitong gawain dahil ilalagay mo sa alanganin ang buhay ng ibang tao,” he said in a statement.

The LTO last month said it would get stricter with the practical test for motorcycle riders getting their driver’s license.
