MANILA -- Various parts of the country will experience cloudy weather and light rains in the next 12 hours due to several weather systems, according to the state weather bureau.

PAGASA Weather Forecaster Benison Estareja said this is likely to persist until the New Year's Eve.

He said the shearline, which is the collision of the warm easterlies and Amihan, will bring scattered rain showers to Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone or the mixture of winds coming from the Northern and Southern Hemisphere will bring rains to the Visayas region especially in the eastern section, the Zamboanga Peninsula, west of Mimaropa, west of Bicol region, Dinagat Islands, Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental, Lanao de Norte and Lanao del Sur.
