MANILA -- Various parts of the country will experience cloudy weather and light rains in the next 12 hours due to several weather systems, according to the state weather bureau.

PAGASA Weather Forecaster Benison Estareja said this is likely to persist until the New Year's Eve.

"Maraming lugar ang magkakaroon ng pag ulan overnight. Ito po ay dahil pa rin sa iba't ibang weather system," said Estareja in Teleradyo Serbisyo's Story Outlook.

He said the shearline, which is the collision of the warm easterlies and Amihan, will bring scattered rain showers to Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone or the mixture of winds coming from the Northern and Southern Hemisphere will bring rains to the Visayas region especially in the eastern section, the Zamboanga Peninsula, west of Mimaropa, west of Bicol region, Dinagat Islands, Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental, Lanao de Norte and Lanao del Sur.

Amihan or the northeast monsoon will bring light to moderate rains in Cayagan Valley and Cordillera Region.

"To the rest of the country, asahan pa rin ang pulupulong pag ulan, bahagyang maulap na kalangitan at 'yung mga thunder storms lang na 1-2 hours," said Estareja.

When asked about the weather forecast for the New Year's Eve, he said: "Parang ganito lang din na madalas na makulimlim, may mga tsansang pagulan sa Metro Manila."

"Ang pinaka uulanin pa rin po ay yung Eastern Visayan, Caraga Region at Bicol," added the PAGASA forecaster.

"So far wala naman tayong minomonitor pa rin na bagyo o LPA sa loob at paligid ng Philippine Area of Responsibility."
