MANILA — Tropical Depression Querubin weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) on Wednesday afternoon, PAGASA said.

Querubin's remnant low will cross Mindanao, Sulu Sea, and Palawan between Thursday and Sunday.

PAGASA officials however warned that the LPA would continue to drench Southern Luzon, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao in the next three days.

(The crossing and slowing down of Querubin's remnant low may enhance the shear line, which will continue to dump rains.)

(Let us be vigilant against landslides and flooding, especially those living in mountainous areas.)

CHRISTMAS FORECAST

There may still be rains in the central Philippines during Christmas week.

"Sa nakikita natin halos apektado sya ng northeast monsoon so light rains dito sa most parts ng Northern at Central Luzon kasama na ang Metro Manila. Pero itong southern part ng Southern Luzon at Visayas makakaranas pa rin ng moderate to occasionally heavy rains kaya ingat pa rin po yung mga kababayan natin sa may Bicol Region at Visayas area," Galang said.

However, the southern part of Southern Luzon and the Visayas will still experience moderate to occasionally heavy rains. Residents of Bicol and Visayas will still have to be careful.)

For now, no other disturbance is seen to affect the country after Querubin.

(After Querubin, we are not expecting another weather disturbance at least until next week. The possibility of another disturbance is now low but if there are any changes to the forecast, we will inform the public right away.)

PAGASA initially forecast one or two storms inside the Philippine area of responsibility this December.
