MANILA — A man who allegedly posted about offering money to bomb the Comelec has been arrested, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said on Friday.

The DICT said the 38-year old man reportedly posted a public offer of P5 million to anyone willing to bomb Comelec facilities.

"The post began circulating on May 5 and remained online through election day on May 12, garnering over 120 shares before it was flagged and traced," the DICT said.

He was apprehended thanks to coordination by Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Threat Monitoring Center with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), the DICT said.

"The Threat Monitoring Center first detected the malicious post. The post was flagged to the PNP-ACG, which led technical tracing and digital investigation. Acting on this, the NBI carried out the arrest and coordinated the filing of criminal charges," the DICT said.
