MANILA — The University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI) announced that the Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazard (NOAH), which provides disaster-related information, is now available in the App Store.

According to an official announcement on March 28, the NOAH iOS app will feature comprehensive hazard maps and provide guidance on how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters such as landslides, floods, and storm surges.

UP NOAH traces its roots to Project NOAH, which was launched in 2012 under the administration of the late former President Benigno Aquino III. The project aims to provide disaster-related information nationwide to help Filipinos prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural hazards.

However, the program was defunded in 2017 during the Duterte administration due to budget constraints.

Prior to the defunding of the project, UP integrated NOAH into its system. In June 2017, UP established the Resilience Institute, with the UP NOAH Center led by geologist Dr. Mahar Lagmay.

NOAH and its features are also accessible through their web version, NOAH Studio.
