MANILA - Actor Marvin Agustin is selling luxury-style fishballs accompanied by non-fungible tokens (NFT) in a collaboration with Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW).

The actor, who also runs restaurants, said he was doing this in a bid to “demystify” blockchain technology by making it as accessible as Filipino street food.

During the PBW 2025 official press launch on Monday, fishblock was unveild. As the name implies, Agustin’s version of the popular street food fishball is shaped like a block to follow the blockchain theme.

Fishblocks are now available at Agustin’s restaurant Cochi in Taguig and Kondwi in Makati. One dish can be bought at 1,000 KIKI cryptocurrency, through digital banking platforms GCash and Maya.

"I guess lahat tayo lumaki sa fishballs. Mayroon pa bang hindi nakakakilala ng fishballs? I think ‘yung brief was how to innovate fishballs— how I could make it more, you know, creative. Kailangan pa rin as familiar as fishballs but bring it to the next level," Agustin said.

The NFTs coming with each order were created by Filipino artists, minted on the blockchain platform Bayanichain.

The initiative is launched ahead of the PBW 2025: Decoded, which starts on June 10, and ends on June 14 at SMX Convention Center Manila. Organizers look to simplify blockchain technology, "shaping the future of Finance, Healthcare, Retail, Gaming, Music, Arts, and more."

It’s a natural progression of the web," Blockchain Council of the Philippines President Donald Lim said.
