MANILA — The official Facebook page of the Bureau of the Treasury has been compromised.

In a statement released Saturday, the Treasury said that the unauthorized access was isolated to its Facebok page and that its IT systems were not affected.

It added in the March 8 release that it had regained access to the social media account but it had yet to fully assess the extent of the security breach. 

As of Tuesday morning, a suggestive video with a link to potentially unsafe website was still up on the page's Story. Other features of the page were not defaced.

"We strongly advise the public to disregard any malicious posts, messages, or announcements from the compromised page until further notice," it said in the release.

The Treasury's official X/Twitter page and its website are apparently spared from the hacking.

The bureau assists in the formulation of policies on borrowing, investment and capital market development.

It also helps prepare the annual program for revenue and expenditure targets and borrowing levels and cash balances of the government.
