MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Monday led the inauguration of the Sum-Ag Water Treatment Plant in Murcia town, Negros Occidental, describing the project as something that would boost Bacolod City’s long-term water security.Marcos Jr. toured the treatment plant’s water intake facility and inspected the treatment process, followed by the demonstration of the pipeline fusion process.Officials also briefed him on the status of other waste supply facilities that serve Bacolod City and Murcia town.In his speech, the President described the project – considered as one of the largest water treatment facilities in the Negros Island Region – as something that “represents sound infrastructure planning and responsible investment in our country’s future.”“The Sum-Ag Water Treatment Plant is a clear example of how the public and private sectors can work together to provide solutions… [it] strengthens Bacolod City’s long-term water security,” he said.Marcos touted that the treatment plant could deliver 75 million liters of potable water daily, benefitting around 100,000 households or around 500,000 residents.“It demonstrates our country’s established position to make long-term investments succeed. It is particularly true for those aligned with climate resilience and with sustainable development,” he said.The P1.5-billion treatment plant was funded through shareholder equity from Climate Fund Managers and the Development Bank of the Philippines.According to information shared by the RTVM, the  Sum-Ag Water Treatment Plant would benefit residents in southern Bacolod City.
