Authorities have declared the Gutierrez drug group as &quot;disbanded&quot; following the arrest of its last two remaining members, the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Thursday. Operatives from CIDG Camarines Norte Provincial Field Unit apprehended two brothers—both identified as long-time members of the drug syndicate—during separate operations in Angeles City, Pampanga, on Tuesday, August 19. The first suspect, alias “Tope,” 37, was arrested at around 11:05 p.m. in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City. He was arrested through multiple warrants, including charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as robbery with violence or intimidation of persons. The robbery charge stems from a 2014 incident in Mercedes, Camarines Norte, where Tope allegedly broke into a residence and stole cash and electronic devices. Shortly after, his brother, alias “Son,” was arrested in Sitio Cuayan, Barangay Malabanias, also in Angeles City. He also faced multiple arrest warrants for violations of RA 9165. Both suspects are residents of Barangay San Roque, Mercedes, Camarines Norte, and have long been under surveillance for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, and a string of robbery cases across the province. In 2016, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), along with local police, raided the brothers&#x27; residence and seized illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Though charges were filed, the suspects posted bail and later evaded court proceedings, prompting the issuance of alias warrants for their arrest. The suspects were brought to Police Station 4 of the Angeles City Police Office for booking and documentation. They will be transferred to CIDG Camarines Norte for proper disposition and return of the warrants to the respective courts.
