The suspect in the killing of two police officers in Bocaue, Bulacan was apprehended after a three-month search but died after exchanging gunfire with authorities in Cagayan.

Police Regional Office 3 bared the news Thursday, saying the shootout happened in Zone 7, Barangay Bacagan, Baggao, Cagayan on Wednesday, June 4.

The suspect, named alias "Xander", was facing double murder after allegedly killing Police Staff Sergeants Dennis G. Cudiamat and Gian George N. Dela Cruz from Bocaue Municipal Police Station on March 8.

Operatives of Baggao Police Station, Regional Intelligence Divisions 2 and 3, Regional Intelligence Units 2 and 3, Provincial Intelligence Units ng Cagayan and Bulacan, RMFB2's 204th Maneuver Company, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Bocaue Police Station joined forces to serve the warrant but upon apprehension, authorities say the suspect pulled out a gun.

PRO 3 said the suspect screamed “Hindi ako magpapahuli nang buhay!” before attacking the police. He died from the shootout.

Authorities were able to recover a Glock pistol with serial number PNP50742 which was traced to be originally Cudiamat's. Upon investigating, they said the suspect took the deceased officer's gun after killing him.

PBGen Jean S. Fajardo, Regional Director of PRO 3, said this brings justice to the families of slain officers.

“Nakamtan na ang hustisya para kina PSSg Cudiamat at PSSg Dela Cruz at para na rin sa kanilang mga naiwang pamilya. Sa lahat ng operatibang lumahok sa operasyon, saludo kami sa inyong katapangan at dedikasyon. Alinsunod sa direktiba ng ating mahal na Pangulo Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sama-sama nating gawing ligtas ang ating mga komunidad at patuloy na paigtingin ang seguridad sa buong bansa,” she said.
