MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Task Force SAFE filed disqualification petition on Monday, May 5 before the Clerk of the Commission against Silang Cavite mayoral bet Alston Kevin Anarna.

This petition stemmed from Anarna’s solo parents joke in one of his campaign sorties.

In the said rally, Anarna was quoted to have said: “Sino dito ang mga solo parents? Bakit parang dumami ang solo parents? Kasi lahat ng solo parents bibigyan natin ng libreng asawa. Ang gagawin natin, lahat ng balong lalake at lahat ng balong babae ira-raffle na lang natin yan ha.”

The commission’s task force believed, Anarna’s remarks may qualify as “gender-based harassment” under its Anti-Discriminatino and Fair Campaigning Guidelines.
