MANILA — Former Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday was proclaimed as mayor of Naga City, a post once held by her husband the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

Robredo secured a landslide win against her rivals Toots De Quiros Louie Ortega and Ganda Abrazado.

Her running-mate Camarines Sur Third District Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr. won the vice mayoral candidacy. Bordado was a longtime vice mayor under Robredo's husband.

Robredo promised to address the grievances raised during the campaign by civil society groups and people’s organizations, such as the proper spending of city funds.

“Kailangan din i-capacitate ‘yong tao para mas makilahok siya sa pamamahala. Ang pinaka-goal ko na ma-translate natin ‘yung usapin ng mabuting pamamahala sa terms na maiintindihan at mararamdaman ng tao,” she said.
