MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Sunday its Starlink satellite transmission devices, solar panels, and batteries have been distributed to their offices in the Davao region.

According to Comelec's statement on late Sunday, the assets were previously held in Barangay Buhangin in Davao City before being distributed.

"Dahil sa deployment na ito, naipasakamay na din kaagad ng provincial election supervisor ng Davao del Norte ang 53 units ng Starlink satellite transmission devices, 56 solar panels at 56 units ng batteries para sa nabanggit na lalawigan," the statement read.

"Inaasahan na sa Lunes (April 7) ay patuloy na ihahatid ang natitira pang mga kagamitan sa iba't iba pang tanggapan ng Comelec sa Davao region," it added.

Meanwhile, Comelec said the provincial election supervisor of Zamboanga del Sur has also received its 23 sets of Starlink allocations.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Starlink sets supposed to be allocated to the Mountain Province have been temporarily stocked in Comelec's compound in Baguio City. Additionally, Comelec also reported that the Starlink sets allocated for Benguet has been received by the Office for Election Officer of the said area.

On Saturday, the Comelec confirmed that the boxes of solar panels and Wi-Fi transmission equipment found stored at a residence in Buhangin, Davao City are part of election equipment for the coming May polls.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laundiangco clarified that the house was only a temporary staging hub used by its transmission service provider before the equipment is delivered to Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) in the region.
